Johnny Manziel’s offseason issues have caused such a stir that the Texas A&M quarterback has been labeled as a disease by at least one reporter, and one up-and-coming college star hopes to avoid the Johnny Football effect at all costs.
Redshirt freshman Jamesis Winston stole the show at Florida State University’s media day on Sunday fielding questions like a veteran. The two-sport athlete, who also plays basketball at FSU, is regarded as one of the top quarterback prospects in the ACC, but he isn’t worried about the fame going to his head.
When a reporter referred to Manziel’s off-field issues as “Manziel disease,” Winston made it clear that the two of them will never be compared off the gridiron as he quickly replied with, “If I ever get Manziel disease, I want all of you to smack me in the head with your microphones.”
