Jose IglesiasTigers shortstop Jose Iglesias made arguably the play of the year Monday night against the Chicago White Sox. The former Red Sox infielder barehanded a ball behind the mound while simultaneously starting his throwing motion in order to make a miraculous play all while flying through the air.

It was an incredible play, and it was the Tigers’ first real look at the absolutely incredible defensive potential Iglesias showcases. However, there’s also another side of Iglesias’ game — when he tends to be excessively flashy — that has already been noticed by his new teammates. It’s something the club is hopeful it can curtail, according to CBSSports.com

“Skip will take care of that,” a veteran Tiger told CBSSports.com’s Danny Knobler.

Iglesias has been a strong asset since being acquired prior to the trade deadline. In 10 games with the Tigers, Iglesias is hitting .286 with a home run, three RBIs and a .657 OPS. He’s yet to make an error on defense.
