Joe Girardi is still fuming about Ryan Dempster hitting Alex Rodriguez.

Dempster drilled Rodriguez in the second inning of Sunday’s game, prompting home plate umpire Brian O’Nora to issue warnings to both sides. Girardi said after the game that he thought the situation was handled poorly. He wanted Dempster to be ejected, and he now wants the Red Sox pitcher to be suspended for at least one start.

Dempster threw the first pitch of the at-bat behind Rodriguez. The right-hander then missed with two pitches inside before plunking A-Rod with his fourth pitch. Dempster said after the game that he was just trying to pitch inside, but Girardi, who was ejected from the contest, said that “everyone knows it was intentional.”
