Simply put, it’s been a rough week for major leaguers when it comes to taking baseballs to the groin.
First, it was LaTroy Hawkins who took a shot in the man region Wednesday night on a line drive from Andre Ethier. On Friday, it was Jose Iglesias‘ turn for some trouble in guy town. The Detroit Tigers shortstop wore a fastball in the groin during a game against the Kansas City Royals.
Royals starter Danny Duffy hit Iglesias with the 91 mph offering, according to MLB.com’s Gameday. Also according to Gameday is the fact that there was an “injury delay” after Iglesias was hit. Ya think?
Iglesias was ultimately fine — easy for us to say — and he stayed in the game.
