Juan Pablo Galavis might bring the beautiful game to the small screen.

Galavis, a 32-year-old former professional soccer player, has been chosen to star on the upcoming season of The Bachelor. He will choose a potential bride from a number of women when the next installment of the reality television show airs on ABC in January, according to USA Today.

Galavais was born in New York but raised in Venezuela. He returned to the U.S. and studied at Roberts Wesleyan College in upstate New York, where he also played soccer.

He pursued a career as a professional soccer player in Venezuela, playing three and a half years in the first division with three clubs — Aragua FC, Guaros de Lara FC and Monagas Sport Club.

Galavais then had a brief playing spell in the U.S. when he competed in the United Soccer League with Miami F.C. in 2008.

While Galavais may have shelved his dreams of soccer stardom, brighter lights could be in his future.
