The Little League New England Regional Tournament picked up again Saturday for Day 2 of action on the diamond.

Maine and Massachusetts faced off in the first game of Saturday’s play, and the Saco/Maremont, Maine, representatives topped the team from Newton South East, 12-1. Maine’s Luke Chessie tossed a gem for his team, even tacking on an RBI to help his own cause. Chessie earned the W, while Massachusetts’ Brandon Lee took the loss.

Brogan Searle-Belanger walked away with four RBIs on the day, and Hunter Penley knocked in three runs of his own. Massachusetts hitters were held to just one hit in six innings.

The evening game was also a lopsided win, this time in favor of South Burlington, Vt. Against Rye, N.H., the Vermont team put 12 runs on the board in five innings, winning 12-2.

Vermont was led by pitcher Ben Tate, who earned the win and chipped in for two RBIs. His team was able to take advantage of six New Hampshire errors in the game.

Raymond Hindle had himself a night for New Hampshire, as well. Hindle drove in the only two runs of the game for his team.

NESN will have coverage of six New England regional games starting Aug. 6. Check out the broadcast schedule here.
