Ladies and gentlemen, your New York Jets.
Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez picked up right where he left off in the team’s first preseason game of the year, throwing an interception to Ziggy Ansah, which the Lions’ first-round pick took back for a touchdown. Making matters worse, Sanchez’s pick-six came on the Jets’ fourth offensive play of the game.
With Detroit’s Willie Young applying the pressure on first down, Sanchez attempted to dump off a screen pass. He did not see the 6-foot-5, 271-pound Ansah, though, and rifled a pass right into the defensive end’s hands, allowing Ansah to rumble the final 14 yards for the score.
With rookie Geno Smith nipping at his heels, these are plays that Sanchez simply cannot afford to make.
