Marlins ParkThe Miami Marlins may have finally hit rock bottom.

After closing the upper bowl of Marlins Park for some home games earlier in the season, and marketing to an opposing team’s player in an attempt to draw fans in July, the Marlins’ newest promotion offers its “diehard fans” $1 tickets for an upcoming game against the Dodgers.

That’s right, the beer will be at least eight times the ticket price on Aug. 20 for those who partake in the deal.

Not actually having any diehard fans may be the Marlins’ real issue with ticket sales — or the team owning the second-worst record in baseball — but the Marlins marketing department keeps plugging away with promotions to entice Floridians to come out to the ballpark.

The gimmick is advertised as a “thank you” to the team’s most loyal fans, but anyone who visits the Marlins website is eligible to redeem the cheap tickets by using the coupon code: HASHTAG.

The Marlins have struggled to fill their new, state-of-the-art stadium since its inception in 2012, and the team currently ranks last in attendance, averaging just 18,181 tickets sold per game.
