FOXBORO, Mass. — After cutting Anthony Rashad White on Tuesday afternoon, the Patriots were down to just five defensive tackles on their 75-man roster. They added another big man later in the day, though.

New England claimed defensive tackle Gilbert Pena off waivers from the Packers. Pena went undrafted out of Ole Miss this year. At 6-foot-3, 330 pounds, he likely projects as a nose tackle in the Patriots’ defense.

New England waived/injured offensive lineman Brice Schwab to make room for Pena. If Schwab passes through waivers, the Patriots can put him on injured reserve.
