Ras-I DowlingRas-I Dowling survived the first round of roster cuts, but he was unable to survive the second. The Patriots announced Wednesday that they have released the oft-injured cornerback.

The former second-round pick battled numerous injuries in his two seasons with the Pats. Dowling played only two games in his rookie season before being placed on injured reserve with a hip injury, and he played in nine games last season before a thigh injury cut his year short.

The 25-year-old registered 10 tackles and no interceptions during his time with New England.

The release of Dowling made room on the roster for linebacker Ja’Gared Davis, whom the Pats claimed off waivers from the Houston Texans.
