A couple hundred Flyers fans apparently had nothing going on at 11 a.m. on Monday, so they made their way over to the Wells Fargo Center in the hopes of setting a unique world record.
The team promoted an event on Facebook for fans to help them set a new Guinness World Record — for having the most people simultaneously watching paint dry when the team painted the lines and logos on the ice. A whopping 195 fans showed up for the event, according to Rebecca Goodman, Flyers director of public relations.
So, were they able to shatter the world record?
As it turns out, there is no such record. Philly.com reports that “the Flyers created this themselves; the record for most people to simultaneously watch paint dry does not exist. Goodman said on Twitter that the team would be submitting their numbers to Guinness in an effort to see if the record could be made official.
