Dwight Gooden‘s primary legacy from his playing career is one of unfulfilled potential, as his addictions ultimately derailed what might have been a truly brilliant body of work. Long since his playing days ended, it seems Gooden still can’t get his life quite on track.
Gooden was evicted in July from the New Jersey mansion he was renting, according to TMZ. The report states that Gooden hadn’t paid rent on the property since February, and he now owes his landlord nearly $19,000 in overdue rent and fees.
Back in March, Gooden’s wife filed a restraining order against the former Mets pitcher. That forced Gooden to move out of the home, but his wife and their two children had been living there since, according to TMZ. Gooden had been paying $4,500 a month in rent since September 2011.
The owners of the home filed legal documents demanding the money owed to them, subsequently giving them the ability to evict Gooden’s family.
