The Bills are hurting mightily at the quarterback position after losing two starters during the preseason, so they’re turning to veterans to add some depth.

Buffalo will work out free agentĀ Matt LeinartĀ on Sunday afternoon, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Mike Garafoldo of FOX Sports. The former Heisman Trophy winner and first-round pick has had a disappointing NFL career, last playing for the Raiders in 2012 as a backup.

The Bills will also work out veteran quarterback John Beck, who hasn’t seen game action since 2011 with the Redskins.

With EJ Manuel questionable for the season opener and Kevin Kolb out indefinitely after suffering concussion-like symptoms in Saturday’s preseason game against the Redskins, Buffalo is in desperate need of a signal caller.

Undrafted rookie free agent Jeff Tuel remains the only other quarterback on the roster for the Bills, and he may get the nod when the Patriots come to town for the season opener on Sept. 8.
