It was a scary moment for Patriots fans, but it wasn’t Bernard Pollard scary.
Tom Brady tweaked his knee in the Patriots’ joint practice with the Buccaneers on Wednesday, but he is expected to be back on the field Thursday for practice, as previously reported. It gets even better, though: Brady will likely play in Friday’s preseason game, too, after the damage to his knee has been assessed as no more than “a bruise,” ESPN’s Ed Werder reports.

Despite the initial scare, the news out of Foxboro after the Wednesday afternoon incident was that Brady’s knee injury doesn’t look like much more than a sprain, with an MRI revealing no structural damage. All signs point to Brady’s knee being fine despite the fact that he took the hit on the same knee that needed ACL surgery after a season-ending blow from Pollard in 2008.
While the Patriots would have every reason now to keep Brady off the field come Friday night, it appears that the door is open for New England fans to get a little bonus Brady action.
