Rhode Island Wins Big, Connecticut Combines for No-Hitter on Day 3 of Little League New England Regional Tournament

On day three of the Little League New England Regional Tournament, Rhode Island and Connecticut came out victorious.

Lincoln, R.I., defeated Newton South East, Mass., 14-8 despite Brandon Lee going 2-4 at the plate, hitting two home runs and driving in four RBIs for Massachusetts. Rhode Island got on the board early, putting up six runs in the top half of the first inning and held the lead the rest of the game. Connor Benbenek led the hitting attack for Rhode Island recording three hits and driving in three runs.

In the evening game, Chad Knight and Max Popken combined to throw a no-hitter, leading Westport, Conn., to an 8-0 victory over Saco/Maremont, Maine. The two pitchers struck out 14 on the night and walked none in the win. Max Stone recorded two RBIs for Connecticut.
