Ryan DempsterWhile the Red Sox weren’t able to complete a sweep of the Orioles on Thursday night, they have consistently found a way to win series. They’ll look to continue that trend as they open a three-game set with the White Sox on Friday.

The White Sox end the month of August sporting the second-worst record in the American League, but they have been hot as of late. The South Siders have won 11 of their last 13 games and will look to build on their three-game winning streak when they send left-hander Hector Santiago to the mound.

Santiago will go up against Ryan Dempster, who will be making his first start since being suspended for drilling Alex Rodriguez on Aug. 18. The right-hander will be pitching on 11 days rest, and although the incident with A-Rod overshadowed his pitching, Dempster struggled in his last outing against New York, surrendering seven runs and nine hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Dempster will take the mound searching for his seventh win on the season, and he will look to maintain Boston’s 2 1/2-game lead over the Rays.
