Day 4 of the Little League New England Regional Tournament brought fireworks, as the bats came alive for both Vermont and Connecticut.

South Burlington, Vt., got things started in the first game of the day, as it pounced on Lincoln, R.I., early en route to an 8-1 win. A four-run third inning was all Vemont needed, and Chance O’Connor got things started with a two-run double. Sammy Premsagar and Kevin Papariello followed with RBI singles of their own. Premsagar also led the way for Vermont on the mound, allowing only one earned run on three hits on the afternoon.

In the nightcap, Westport, Conn., defeated Rye, N.H., 12-2. The Westport boys put together an ultimate team effort, as eight different players knocked in at least one run. Chad Knight led the way for Connecticut, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored. Harry Azadian also contributed two hits and knocked in two runs. Azadian was also the starting pitcher for Westport, giving up only four hits and striking out eight in his three innings of work.

NESN will have coverage of six New England regional games starting Tuesday, Aug. 6. Check out the broadcast schedule here.
