Minnesota Vikings backup lineman Seth Olsen suffered a pretty scary injury Thursday night in his team’s final preseason game.
Olsen sustained a neck injury and had to be taken off the field strapped down to a stretcher after taking a knee to the head in the second quarter of the Vikings’ game against the Titans, according to USA Today Sports. The fourth-year offensive lineman was responsive as he was carried off the field and raised his left hand to acknowledge the crowd. The team did not disclose any other information about the nature of the injury.
The injury happened when Olsen dove to make a block low, and it appeared that a Titans defensive lineman’s knee hit Olsen in the head before he landed face-down on the turf.
The game was delayed for about 10 minutes as medics tended to Olsen on the field, padded his head and strapped him down to the gurney.
Olsen played 14 games for the Broncos and the Colts before the Vikings signed him to a one-year, $670,000 contract in March that included a $20,000 signing bonus and another $20,000 bonus if he spends one game on the 53-man roster.
