Peyton ManningYou can take Wes Welker off the Patriots, but you can’t take the Patriot out of Wes Welker.

Welker told Sports Illustrated he still worries about what Bill Belichick will think when he’s talking to the media in Denver.

“When I’m answering questions from the Denver media, I’m not worried about what the Broncos’ people are going to think, I’m worried about what Belichick will think. Isn’t that crazy?” Welker said, as passed along by Christopher Price of WEEI.com.

Welker also said Belichick seemed to go out of his way to dog the slot receiver last season.

“It was just kind of hard,” Welker said. “One of those deals where you have to endure him, put up with him. But he does it to everybody. It’s the way he is.”
