September baseball is exciting baseball, and the destination is always October.
The 1995 Red Sox won 86 games during their hunt for October, and on Sept. 19, the Sox clinched the American League East title with a 3-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers at Fenway Park. The team didn’t make it out of the first round of the playoffs alive that season, as they got swept in three games by the Cleveland Indians in the first round.
When the Sox clinched the division, though, no one could bring them down from cloud nine. In this week’s Throwback Thursday, we take you back to that September night 18 years ago as the Sox celebrated their No. 1 spot in the AL East. Check it out in the video above.
