Sheldon Richardson, Aaron DobsonFOXBORO, Mass. — Aaron Dobson and Desmond Trufant spent a week battling each other down in Mobile, Ala. So, Sunday’s matchup will be nothing new for the two rookies.

Dobson and Trufant were both on the North squad at the 2013 Senior Bowl. During Senior Bowl practices, it’s normal to see wide receivers and cornerbacks battling one-on-one every day.

Dobson came away impressed with the Falcons cornerback. The two will probably be matched up against each other again on Sunday night. Since Kenbrell Thompkins is the starting “X” receiver, he’ll likely draw Asante Samuel. Julian Edelman plays in the slot, so he’ll likely be going up against Robert McClain.

“He’s good,” Dobson said of Trufant. “I like him. He’s real competitive, man, real competitive. He’s going to fight for the ball. He likes to sit on routes. I got a pretty good feel of him.”

Dobson said Trufant is more of a “off” cornerback than press. That means things may not get too physical for the Patriots wide receiver at the line of scrimmage.

“I feel like he plays both,” Dobson said. “He might be more comfortable in off. I feel like he likes to see the quarterback and guess on routes and stuff. He’s a good corner. We definitely got to be on our A game with him and Asante.”

Trufant was taken with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2013 draft. Dobson was taken No. 59 overall by the Patriots.
