On Tuesday, University of Alabama wide receiver Kenny Bell made a surprising move when he announced on Twitter that his days on the gridiron were over. The senior noted that he planned to shift his focus to his family, but by Tuesday evening Bell’s plans had already altered.

In arguably the shortest retirement of all-time, Bell once again took to Twitter to declare that he would, in fact, be rejoining the team. His departure from the Tide was never made official, however, as Nick Saban later clarified that Bell had been granted a “personal day,” and would return to practice on Wednesday.

“Sometimes we have personal things that we need to get ironed out,” Saban said. “He had a day today to do that.”

The head coach spoke with Bell on Monday and Tuesday, and also spoke to his mother before the three of them came to a decision on the wide receiver’s future.
