Bobby Robins, by all accounts, is a good guy and a good teammate. That’s why he took some time after practice Thursday to teach one of his teammates how to fight.
OK, so that’s probably simplifying things just a tad, but it is the preseason, which means it’s time to work on every aspect of the game, including fighting for a tough guy like Robins. Following practice Thursday, Robins did some sparring with teammate Rob Flick.
Robins is no stranger to dropping the gloves; he racked up 316 penalty minutes in 74 games last season with the Providence Bruins. He also jumped on to the radar screen of many fans when he fought B’s defenseman Adam McQuaid during a preseason scrimmage in January.
The 22-year-old Flick isn’t exactly just trying on pugilism for size, though. He only registered seven PIMs in five games with Providence last season after being acquired from Chicago, but he certainly has done his share of scrapping over his young career.
