Danny Amendola, Chad O'SheaFOXBORO, Mass. — We may finally have an answer for why Danny Amendola missed the Patriots’ third preseason game.

Amendola was listed as limited on the Patriots’ first injury report of the season with a groin injury. Some thought Amendola was sitting out due to a head injury based on a big hit he received in New England’s second preseason game against the Buccaneers. Amendola also sat in the Patriots’ fourth preseason game against the Giants, but so did Tom Brady and the rest of the starters.

Rob Gronkowski was also listed as limited with back/forearm injuries. Brandon Bolden (knee), Aaron Dobson (hamstring), Nate Ebner (ankle) and Duron Harmon (hamstring) were also listed as limited. Offensive lineman Will Svitek was the only player who did not participate in practice due to a knee injury.
