Mariano Rivera took one final souvenir to add to his list of retirement party gifts that has been growing with every stop the Yankees have made in this, Rivera’s final season.

The soon to be ex-Yankees closer was introduced with all of the fanfare you’d expect Thursday night, and he was also removed from the game in perhaps the most moving way possible. After the game, however, he headed out to the mound one last time and picked up a handful of Yankee Stadium dirt. He wasn’t alone in doing that, though.

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher David Price — who watched the entire shebang from the visiting dugout — also grabbed himself some dirt. While Rivera was soaking up the moment in the New York dugout in the seconds after the game ended, Price was quickly picking up some dirt for himself. During the YES broadcast, Price could be seen running back to the Tampa Bay dugout with his glove in his hand.

Price had grabbed some Yankee Stadium dirt to remember the experience, a piece of history that is certainly priceless. The Tampa Bay left-hander also changed his Twitter avatar to what looks like a photo he might have taken of Rivera tipping his cap to the fans.
