It’s the end of an era for the relationship between Mark Sanchez and Brandon Moore‘s butt.

The highlight (or lowlight, depending on how you look at it) of the Jets quarterback dropping the football after running into Moore’s backside has held the No. 1 spot on SportsCenter’s “Not Top 10: Worst of the Worst” countdown for 40 straight weeks, and ESPN announced Friday that it is officially retiring the video. The “Worst of the Worst” list is voted on by fans weekly, and for nearly a year, the butt fumble has topped the voting.

“We are retiring it this week due to the start of a new NFL season, and the feeling that it was time to start fresh,” said senior coordinating producer Mark Summer. “The ‘Butt Fumble’ has won the ‘Not Top 10′ each week since last Thanksgiving, and we’re not sure anything could top it.”

Moore, whose bum caused the fumble, announced in July that he himself was retiring from the NFL, so it seems about time for the video to fade to black. Never fear, though, Jets fans can always relive the moment in silent film form.
