Liverpool forward Fabio Borini sought the advice of teammates Jordan Henderson and Simon Mignolet before completing a season-long loan switch to Sunderland.
The Italian will spend the duration of 2013-14 with the Black Cats, where both Henderson and Mignolet plied their trade before sealing transfers to Anfield.
Borini, who has made 20 appearances and bagged two goals since becoming a Liverpool player in July 2012, was encouraged by the duo to move to the Stadium of Light.
“I asked them a little bit about one or two things about the club,” the 22-year-old told the official Sunderland website. “They gave me some advice. Obviously Jordan is from Sunderland and Simon was really happy I was coming here.
“He told me it was the right place for me to come and I am really looking forward to it.”
Reds manager Brendan Rodgers believes the temporary move will benefit the Italian — his first signing at Anfield — and Borini is in agreement.
“It feels good to make the move,” he said. “I was waiting to get my time to play and I needed to play.
“This is the right place to come. It is a great opportunity for me. Playing is important for me to achieve my goals for the season.”
