Felix Doubront has been one of the most pleasantly surprising pitchers for the Red Sox this season, but one flaw continues to follow him.
Doubront has a habit of needing an exceedingly high number of pitches to get through early innings, resulting in a shorter start for him and more work for the Boston bullpen. The left-hander currently boasts a career-best 3.89 ERA, but he has failed to complete six innings in four of his last 10 starts.
One of those occasions came in his last outing, when he worked just 3 2/3 innings but threw 90 pitches against the White Sox. The Red Sox notched a win in that game, but because of his limited outing, Doubront was unable to.
