A Houston attorney has set a state record for his winning bid in an auction for a vanity Texas license plate.
Tony Buzbee ended up with the winning bid of $115,000 for a custom license plate that says ’12THMAN.’ The month-long auction benefits Texas A&M and the General Revenue Fund of Texas, according to College Confidential. The bid is the highest amount paid for an official State of Texas license plate.
Buzbee isn’t keeping the one-of-a-kind license plate for himself, though. After being announced as the winning bidder, he said that he plans to give the plate to a decorated war hero who is a huge A&M fan and “deserves it more than I do.” Buzbee chose to let the vet remain anonymous.
The custom plate will be presented to Buzbee during Saturday’s game against Alabama.
