Jon LesterTuesday night’s matchup between the Tigers and the Red Sox featured a good old-fashioned pitchers’ duel.

Detroit’s ace Max Scherzer took the mound for the Tigers, hoping to record his 20th win on the season, but Jon Lester and the Red Sox made sure that milestone didn’t come at Fenway.

The Cy Young front-runner was as good as advertised, but Jon Lester was better Tuesday night. The left-hander allowed just one run on eight hits and didn’t issue any walks in the seven-inning performance. Lester also recorded a season-high nine strikeouts in the outing, and earned his 13th win of the season.

The southpaw has continued his streak of dominance since the All-Star break, and shutting down one of the highest-scoring teams in baseball on Tuesday, earns Lester the Amica Pitcher of the Week honors.
