Jose Fernandez has had himself a year with the Miami Marlins, and he capped off his last start of the season in style Wednesday night.

The rookie phenom’s impressive season concluded against the Braves, as he had reached the 170-inning limit the Marlins had set for him, but he made sure he wouldn’t be forgotten any time soon. With Miami ahead 4-1 in the sixth inning, the potential National League Rookie of the Year stepped up to the plate and did what only nine players did against him in 2013 — he launched a home run.

The moment was only briefly celebratory, however. After rounding the bases on his first career homer, Fernandez exchanged some words with Braves catcher Brian McCann, and both benches and bullpens quickly cleared.
