Two years ago, Kenny Britt looked like he was well on his way to being the Titans’ No. 1 receiver for years to come, but an ACL tear in Week 3 of the 2011 season cut that breakout campaign way short. Now, as Week 3 approaches this season, it appearsĀ his future with the franchise has drastically changed.

Britt was benched at the end of the Titans’ 30-24 overtime loss in Houston on Sunday — a decision that set Britt off. On Tuesday, he took to Twitter to express his frustrations, comparing his situation to that of former teammate and current St. Louis Rams tight endĀ Jared Cook,Ā who wasn’t tendered the franchise tag or even attempted to be re-signed by the Titans last season, and even suggesting this may be his last season with the team.

Britt was benched only after being assessed his third penalty in two weeks, which undid a key first down on Sunday. The 24-year-old receiver has gotten off to a slow start on the season, too, catching just five balls for 43 yards in the Titans’ first two games.

The former first-round pick is in the final year of his contract and is set to become a free agent after this season.
