Kobe Bryant is nothing if not brutally honest.
The Lakers may be trying to gear up for the 2014 campaign, but before they can focus on the upcoming season, they were forced to face some blemishes from the past. During their annual media day on Saturday, Bryant was asked about his feelings regarding Dwight Howard‘s departure from the team.

Howard chose to leave L.A. and sign with the Rockets during free agency, but Bryant is clearly not dwelling on the past or what could have been. Bryant’s goals remain lofty, and losing their big man isn’t going to change the high expectations he has for his team.
“Our expectations are always the same going into every single season: It’s to improve every day with the goal in mind of winning a championship,” Bryant said. “It doesn’t matter what anybody else is saying, that’s the goal that we have.”
Bryant continues to rehab from his torn Achilles tendon, and while he said he has no timetable for his return, there’s one game he’ll particularly want to be 100 percent for: Nov. 7 when the Lakers visit Howard for the first time in Houston.
