LeBron James is following the script and throwing a party fit for a king.
James and his longtime girlfriend, Savannah Brinson, are getting married this weekend in San Diego. While some details have been out for some time (including how these nuptials will stack up against the cellphone-banning Michael Jordan), most of the action from the “high-security ceremony” is still “top secret,” according to the New York Post’s Page Six.
Page Six does know this much, though: The wedding is definitely in San Diego (either at the Grand Del Mar or Hotel Del Coronado), and the celebration will be spread over three days. It includes a welcome barbecue on Friday, the afternoon wedding on Saturday and a farewell brunch on Sunday.
Perhaps the most intriguing details include the guest list, which Page Six said was cut down “because [James] didn’t want to have 1,000 people at the wedding.” The crowd, now only in the “hundreds,” includes teammate Dwyane Wade, fellow NBA players Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony, Heat president Pat Riley and Miami coach Erik Spoelstra.
It’s all under the direction of wedding planner Preston Bailey, who took care of the reported $10 million Lord of the Rings-themed wedding for Sean Parker and Alexandra Lenas in California.
