Nelson Cruz is back in the lineup at just the right time. The Rangers took on the Rays on Monday night in a tiebreaker game to send one of the two teams to the playoffs with the American League’s final wild-card berth.
Cruz was back in the No. 6 spot in the batting order after serving a 50-game suspension for his role in the Biogenesis performance-enhancing drug scandal, and the home crowd in Arlington welcomed him back like a king. Rangers fans greeted Cruz with a standing ovation in his first appearance at the plate.
