Red Sox’ Beards Make Appearance on Cover of Sports Illustrated (Photo)

The Bruins were left off the cover of Sports Illustrated’s annual NHL preview issue — that honor instead went to two of the B’s playoff nemeses, the Blackhawks and Penguins — but Boston still managed to make an appearance.

The issue, which hit newstands earlier this week, features a profile on the Red Sox’ proclivity toward facial hair, and seven Sox players, including ringleaders Mike Napoli and Jonny Gomes, show off their beards on the cover alongside the clean-shaven faces of Patrick Kane and Sidney Crosby.

Check out both versions of the cover below.

Aetna Strikeouts for A Cause

For every strikeout by a Red Sox pitcher at Fenway Park in June, Aetna will donate $250 to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Through June 25, the donation mark stands at $30,000.

Through their continued efforts in the local community, Aetna is helping to build a healthier world -- one city and one strikeout at a time.
