Henry MeltonThe Bears scored a big win against the Steelers on Sunday night, moving them to 3-0 on the season, but it came at a big cost.

Pro Bowl defensive tackle Henry Melton will miss the rest of the 2013 season after tearing his ACL during Sunday’s game, according to ESPN’sĀ Adam Schefter.

Melton, 26, has developed into one of the most fearsome interior linemen in football, racking up 13 sacks over the last two seasons and being selected to his first Pro Bowl in 2012. After an impressive run last season, the Bears signed Melton using the franchise tag this offseason. The tag gave Melton a hefty $8.5 million salary in 2013, but it now leaves him in a precarious position as he seeks a long-term deal after this year.

Melton managed five tackles and one fumble recovery in three games before the injury this season.
