The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are getting desperate, and Greg Schiano is making a move at quarterback.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday morning that the Bucs have benched Josh Freeman, and Mike Glennon will take over as the starting quarterback. His first start will come this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.
Freeman, a 2009 first-round draft pick, has struggled mightily this season for Tampa Bay. He’s completed just 45.7 percent of his passes and has thrown three interceptions and just two touchdowns on the way to an 0-3 record. He has a quarterback rating of just 59.3.
Glennon would be making the first start of his NFL career after being drafted out of North Carolina State in the third round of the 2013 draft. He played four years at NC State, starting his final two. He threw for more than 4,000 yards and 31 touchdowns in his final season with the Wolfpack.
