Brandon Jacobs, Eli ManningDavid Wilson‘s two fumbles on Sunday night gave the Giants some pause about their running back situation. Now, they’ve added an old friend to help out at the position.

The Giants signed running back Brandon Jacobs to a one-year deal on Tuesday, according to ESPN. Jacobs played seven seasons with the Giants from 2005 to 2011, rushing for nearly 5,000 yards and winning two Super Bowls during his tenure. He worked out for the Giants along with a number of other running backs on Monday.

Jacobs spent the 2012 season with the San Francisco 49ers, but he played in just two games with the Niners, finishing with five carries for seven yards on the season. The iffy performance last season won’t exactly instill confidence in his ability on the field, but Jacobs’ experience and veteran leadership should help mentor Wilson to become a more durable and reliable back
