Lions Redskins FootballThe Detroit Lions finally seemed to find a reliable receiver not named Calvin Johnson, but now they’ll have to re-open their search.

Nate Burleson, who leads the Lions with 19 receptions this season, broke out with an impressive six-catch, 116-yard performance in the Lions’ 27-20 win over the Redskins on Sunday. Early Tuesday morning, he endured a very different type of break.

Burleson broke his arm in two places after he crashed his car early Tuesday morning, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. The 32-year-old receiver will have surgery to repair the arm and is out indefinitely.

In the meantime, the Lions, who are 2-1 on the season, will rely on a group that includes rookie Ryan Broyles, second-year receiver Patrick Edwards and veteran Michael Spurlock to fill the void in the passing game.
