Vince WilforkThe Patriots came out of Atlanta with a win, but they may have lost one of their top players on defense.

Vince Wilfork tore his Achilles on the first drive of the game, according to Shalise Manza Young of The Boston Globe. Wilfork has never played less than 13 games in a season.

If Wilfork is done, he finished the season with nine tackles. The Patriots don’t have an obvious fill-in at nose tackle. Joe Vellano and Chris Jones rotated with Tommy Kelly at defensive tackle with Wilfork out.

The Patriots have A.J. Francis and Marcus Forston on the practice squad, as well.

Wilfork is in his 10th NFL season. He entered the game listed on the injury report with a foot ailment.
