FORT WORTH, Texas — Dallas Stars forward Rich Peverley will miss three weeks after undergoing a procedure to correct an irregular heartbeat.

General manager Jim Nill said on the second day of the team’s three-day training camp in Fort Worth on Friday that the 31-year-old Peverley might miss the first couple of games of the regular season. Dallas opens against Florida on Oct. 3.

The Stars reported on their website that the issue was discovered during a physical Wednesday, and doctors decided to perform the procedure after more tests Thursday. Peverley can skate in the coming weeks but must avoid contact.

Dallas acquired Peverley, center Tyler Seguin and defenseman Ryan Button in a seven-player deal that sent Loui Eriksson and three prospects to the Bruins.
