FOXBORO, Mass. — Shane Vereen won’t be able to play in a game until Week 11.

The Patriots running back was placed on short-term injured reserve on Tuesday afternoon. Vereen broke his wrist in the first quarter of New England’s Week 1 matchup with the Bills.

Vereen can’t practice for six weeks and can’t suit up in a game for eight weeks. The Patriots’ bye week falls on Week 10, so he won’t be able to play until Nov. 18 when New England travels to Carolina.

Vereen had 159 yards on 21 touches against Buffalo. He was a key contributor in the team’s final game-winning drive.
