While John Farrell‘s Red Sox continue their remarkable season, Terry Francona is cooking up something special in Cleveland as well.

Francona’s Indians are battling alongside the Rays and Rangers for one of the American League’s two wild card spots. The Tribe kept pace with the Rays and maintained a one-game edge over the Rangers on Tuesday thanks to some heroics from 42-year-old Jason Giambi.

Giambi launched a pinch-hit two-run homer into the right field seats with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Indians a 3-2 victory over the White Sox. The dramatic blast set off a major celebration at Progressive Field, with Giambi’s teammates mobbing him at home plate.

Francona spoke with the media after the dust settled, and he couldn’t help but marvel at what Giambi had done.

“I think I have a man crush on ‘G,'” Francona said. “That was pretty awesome. Boy, did he hit that ball. Wow!”
