Yasiel PuigDENVER — Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig is day-to-day after leaving the game Monday with a strained right knee.

The rookie slid awkwardly into third base in the sixth inning of Monday’s game against the Colorado Rockies. He stayed down for a moment before returning to the base. He later scored on a sacrifice fly but was replaced in right field by Skip Schumaker in the bottom half of the inning.

Manager Don Mattingly said he was going to give Puig the day off Tuesday but was planning to do so before he aggravated his knee.

“We’ll see,” Mattingly said after the Dodgers’ 10-8 win.

Puig said through a translator that the knee has been giving him trouble for a little while and just acted up.

“Going to get treatment see how it feels,” Puig said.

Puig was 1-for-3 and was hit by a pitch. He’s hitting .351 this season with 14 homers and 32 RBIs this season.
