Zdeno Chara holds the record for the NHL’s fastest slap shot.
Chara set the record of 108.8 mph at the 2012 NHL All-Star Game SuperSkills competiion, breaking his previously held record. While maybe not 108 mph, Chara often lets the slap shot loose in game action, sending defenders flying out of the way in every which direction. So, who better to demonstrate the principles of the shot?
NESN’s Andy Brickley caught up with Chara at the TD Garden to see just what goes into the incredibly powerful shot.
