Cristiano Ronaldo works hard to tone his body, and it’s finally paying off.

If being one of the best and richest athletes to ever grace a soccer field isn’t validation enough, Ronaldo’s body has earned the respect of a former Mr. Universe: the one and only Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Marca reports Schwarzenegger praised Ronaldo for his physique — particularly his abs.

“He has a fantastic physique and great abs. He’s in amazing shape,” the former bodybuilder-turned-actor-turned-politician told Spanish radio show Cadena COPE. “That’s why he’s such a great footballer.”

Ronaldo reportedly does 3,000 sit-ups each day as part of his physical fitness regimen, but Schwarzenegger doesn’t think the Portuguese superstar should quit his day job.

“I don’t think he’s interested in competing in Mr Olympia,” he said. “Ronaldo wants to be the best player in the world and what I wanted was to win the Mr Olympia title. They’re two very different sports.”

Before each and every one of us sets out to do 3,000 sit-ups per day, Schwarzenegger warned that what works for Ronaldo may not work for everyone.

“Each and every body is born with its own assets, its own strengths and weaknesses,” he concluded. “I found it very easy to develop my biceps and my chest, but harder to improve my calves and thighs. Other people however, find it very easy to get the best out of their thighs and calves, but they struggle to improve their triceps or biceps. Everybody is different.”
