Carl Crawford is sacrificing his body for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He may not need to, but he is.

Crawford tried to go all Derek Jeter on a fly ball to left in L.A.’s rout of Atlanta on Sunday night, hucking himself over the wall along left field. He not only flipped over the concrete barrier of the stands but also landed on his head, making the entire sequence a valiant move for the formerly beleaguered Red Sox outfielder.

There’s just one thing, though — Crawford made the grab cleanly before reaching the wall, and although his momentum did carry him, he may not have needed to pull the heels-over-head routine on this one. Perhaps he’ll have an injury from it that will affect him for the rest of the postseason.

Nevertheless, it was quite the grab.
