The Bruins started the 2013 season on a positive note and got on the board first against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
In the first period, Tampa Bay looked to strike on its first power play of the game, but the Bruins penalty kill would not let that happen. The B’s had a few opportunities in front of the net early on in the penalty kill, and center Chris Kelly looked to capitalize but was brought down to the ice on a breakaway.
Kelly was awarded a penalty shot and put on two Oscar-worthy fakes to beat Lightning goalie Anders Lindback glove-side.
