The 2014 Olympics are fast approaching and the nations competing in Sochi’s hockey tournament will all have a similar, if not appealing, look.
Nike is designing and producing the jerseys for all twelve nations participating in hockey at the Winter Games. The Czech Republic was the most recent nation to have their sweaters revealed, courtesy of Pavel Barta.
Like the USA and Canada’s jerseys, the reaction was less than glowing. The jerseys feature faux-laces at  the neckline, much like Nike’s NFL jersey redesign, though thankfully no matte stars made it on the Czech sweaters.
Czech national team regulars Patril Elias and David Krejci will wear the fairly standard white jerseys with red shoulder plates and the Czech national crest. The second design is where Nike artists really let loose — they lifted the Czech Republic’s flag and smacked it right onto a hockey jersey. Yikes.
The Czechs will be in a very winnable pool with Sweden, Switzerland and Latvia. If they make it out of the round-robin stage, it won’t be thanks to their patriotic duds.
